Yes, Quant Research is an opportunity in HFT. Oh, but what is HFT?

HFT is High-Frequency Trading, and the most important thing you should about it is it requires low-level coding with tremendous knowledge of optimizing existing codes with a mathematical brain working simultaneously on new algorithm development for trading, while you need to be a top-notch on-spot coder which means you need to be in the top 1%ile with a combination of Stats, Tech and Math (no-brainer, yes you need to have strong skills in those areas besides being passionate about Finance)
